Charges dropped; but death still looms
In an obvious bow to international pressure an Afghani court has dropped a death penalty case against a man who had converted to Christianity. To save face, the court said it's actions were because the man was mentally unfit to face trial.
However, he is still in custody, because prosecutors want to see if they can file other charges against him, and he has been moved to Kabul's maximum security prison for his own protection.
Hundreds have protested the dropping of the charges and some Muslim clerics are still calling for his head for violating Islamic law by converting to another religion.
Ain't religion grand!
