From The New York Times:
Several questionable ads in favor of GOP candidate Bob Corker have led to concern over the role of racism in the Tennessee Senate race between Corker and Rep. Harold Ford, Jr (D-TN). A fictional television commercial sponsored by the Republican National Committee features a white woman who says that she met Ford, who is black, at a Playboy party and then winks at the camera saying, "Harold, call me." A radio ad for Corker features the rumble of "tom-tom" drums every time Ford's name is mentioned.
Corker tried to distance himself from the "Playboy" television ad, asking the RNC to pull it after receiving a negative response, and the ad was taken off the airwaves Wednesday. Corker remains on the defensive as racism charges pile up against his campaign.
