What happened in China?

After spending a week in China, the two most vocal critics of that country's currency policy have backed off plans for legislation that would impose high tarrif's on Chinese imports into this country, according to an article in The New York Times.

Makes one wonder what really happened over there. Anyone remember the original The Manchurian Candidate?
